What vaccination training do Walk-In vaccine clinic technicians receive?
In an article by Health.com, Dr. Ken Donohue, MD explains that doctors and nurses are properly trained in determining needle length and injection location (or “landmarking”) for administering vaccines. However, the laws for medical professionals and pharmacy technicians are very different when it comes to administering vaccinations.
For pharmacy technicians, the laws on training and regulation of administering vaccines vary greatly from state to state. In some states, such as Georgia, there are no legal requirements regarding training of pharmacy technicians who administer vaccines at walk-in clinics like Walgreens or Kroger, which can cause serious problems according to an article by 11Alive.
